Bike Palooza 2019 – off to a flying start

Bike Palooza got off to a flying start last Friday with a full house forĀ MOTHERLOAD: The Movie. There were tears and cheers followed by some lively discussion about how we can work towards a city where everyone feels comfortable on a bike and, of course, where to get a cargo bike.

Some tips from those in the know:

  • don’t underestimate the value of power-assist (on any bike – but especially a cargo bike),
  • don’t stress too much about paying extra for weather protection.
  • Getting better bike infrastructure can take years, so start campaigning now (and don’t get disheartened early on).
  • Go riding with your kids!

Thanks to our panelists Clare from Bike Bendigo, Keriann from Bicycle Network and Julie from La Trobe University. Congratulations to Cheryle Barker, winner of the 1-week trial of a Riese & Muller e-cargo bike, and thanks to Thijs from E-stralian!

Plenty more still to come in the next week, including Ride to Work day and our community bike rides.

Don’t forgot to register or let your friends know about our Urban Cycling Workshops, held each Saturday. There are still places available.

Keep on riding,

Nicola Dunnicliff-Wells
President, Bike Bendigo
